Setting up the Network Neighborhood

in Windows 95 - me

 

1)    Right click on Network Neighborhood and then click on properties.

2)    With the Configurations tab selected, make sure you have the indicated drivers installed.

Note:

Many times you will be missing the IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol.  To add this control just click add and then click on Protocol.  Then click add.

Under "Manufacturers" click Microsoft and then under "Network Protocols" click IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol.

3)    Highlight the TCP/IP and then click on Properties

4)    With the IP Address tab selected, click on the Specify an IP address.

5)    Enter a IP Address and a Subnet Mask.

6)    With the Gateway tab selected, enter a gateway at the New gateway box.

7)    With the DNS Configuration tab selected, click on enable DNS

8)    Then enter a Host and Domain where the host is the users computer and the domain is "cc.whecn.edu".

9)    Add a DNS Server Search Order.

10)  Enter "mercury.cc.whecn.edu" as the Domain Suffix Search Order.
